For beauty brands, making it into Hailey Bieber’s skincare arsenal is the ultimate flex. Its easy to see why, as the model-turned-moguls "glazed" glow is enviable, and every product she touches is bound to go viral. We’ve gotten various looks at her beauty routine, and a recent video, she revealed that she uses the K-Beauty-loved Medicube Age R Booster-H tool ($330) as part of her routine. The tool went viral almost immediately after, and I naturally had to see what all the hype was about.

I tested the Medicube Age R Booster-H for a full month—read on for my honest review.

The Hype

Practically anything Bieber posts has the potential to reach cult status, but the hype behind the Medicube Age R Booster-H skyrocketed after the Rhode founder used the tool in her skin prep video. She posted her entire glazed skincare routine, which, of course, featured the Rhode Glazing Milk ($29), Rhode Barrier Restore Cream ($29), and other cult-favorite skincare products.

The star of the show, however, was the Age R Booster-H, which Bieber glided over her skin in the video. TikToks of creators using the tool flooded the app shortly after, with one even calling it “the holy grail for glass skin."

The Product

Thanks to Biebers video and all the TikTok hype, I was dying to try the tool myself. But first, I had some questions about how it even works. I’ve accumulated tons of beauty tools in the name of testing (an at-home laser, nanocurrent devices, LED masks—the works). The Medicube Age R Booster-H, though, uses a technology I’d never experienced before: electroporation.

While electroporation sounds like a terrifying procedure, theres no reason to be scared. Electroporation is a non-invasive way to push product into the skin, reaching down to the deepest dermis layer. The brand tells buuk.top, that the tool "uses electrical pulses of energy in order to create temporary passageways on the skin layer, rapidly passing active ingredients." This helps to bring back skin radiance and penetrate products deeper into the skin.

In fact, according to a clinical study conducted by Medicube, the Age R Booster-H increases ingredient absorption by 490%. Basically, if you’ve ever wondered whether your skincare is just sitting on your skins surface, this tool ensures that active ingredients reach the deepest layers of the skin. Of course, it increases the efficacy of active ingredients, but Medicube notes that the Age R Booster-H can also “improve dullness, and minimize pores, acne scarring, and skin texture.”

How to Use the Medicube Age R Booster-H

Upon receiving my package, I immediately gave the Age R Booster-H a whirl. Since this product works to push skincare ingredients into the skin, I first prepped my face by washing it and applying the Rhode Glazing Milk ($29) and the Medicube Collagen Glow Bubble Serum ($39). These are the products that work for me, but you can use pretty much any serum with the device—Medicube just advises to hold off on retinoids and apply them after using the Booster-H.

Then, I turned the machine on and kept it on the first setting. The tool has five intensity levels, but the brand recommends starting at level one and working your way up from there. There are three methods to try with this device: the “watering” method calls for massaging the tool over your face in circular motions; the “boosting” method calls for sliding the device over your skin similar to a gua sha tool; and the “focusing” method calls for pressing problem spots with the tool.

The Age R Booster-H is also pretty fool-proof—the brand recommends using it for five minutes a session. (Luckily, I never have to worry about overdoing it since the tool has an automatic shut-off feature at the five-minute mark.) In the morning, I use the “boosting” method (which Bieber seems to love, too) since it helps de-puff my skin. At night, I use the “watering” method since my nighttime routine is all about hydration. If I have a scar or acne spot here or there, I’ll use the “focusing” method during both my morning and nighttime routines.

My Review

Isabella Sarlijia

As stated, I have tried many at-home tools before—but nothing in my collection has provided results as instantly as the Age R Booster-H. After my first use, my skin felt plump and smooth, and my complexion looked as though I had just left my esthetician’s office. Plus, my skin remained hydrated throughout the day, and I didn’t feel the need to for my mid-day hydrating facial mist as I normally do. Over time, my skin became juicier (or more glazed), my scars have faded significantly, and my developing fine lines and wrinkles are almost non-existent. Sure, I was skeptical at first—but after using this tool for a month, I can’t imagine anyone not raving about it after trying it.
