I Tried Tinkles Eyebrow Razor and It Made Brow Maintenance So Much Easier

While thick, bold brows are in at the moment, when I was a teenager in the late ‘90s and early 2000s, bushy brows could not have been more uncool. While I was blessed with moderately thin eyebrows, there was still a lot of maintenance involved. I wasn’t just plucking at stray hairs, I was trying to make them thinner, or begging my parents to give me money to get them waxed.

Thankfully, super-thin brows are no longer in fashion, and I look back at all that plucking and cringe—not just because my eyebrows looked awful, but because all that plucking hurt. Once thin eyebrows went out of style, I packed away my tweezers, canceled my waxing appointments, and let my eyebrows grow out, stray hairs and all. Sure, things got a little unruly at times, but I couldn’t be bothered by it.

When I got the opportunity to try the Tinkle Eyebrow Razor, I was excited and a little nervous, too: I cut myself shaving pretty much every time I shave my legs, so I wasn’t optimistic about my skills with an eyebrow razor. But if it was a path to easier brow maintenance, I was willing to try.

About My Eyebrows: Nicely shaped and a little unruly at times

My eyebrows have a nice natural shape that’s well-suited to ever-changing eyebrow trends—they’re not too thin and not too thick. Of course, I deal with a lot of stray hairs, especially at the bottom of my brows, and while I can easily get rid of them with some light plucking, I haven’t bothered much lately. It always just felt like more trouble than it was worth.

The Look: Tall, thin, un-intimidating, and pastel-colored

The Tinkle Eyebrow Razors come in a pack of three pastel shades—yellow, mint green, and pink. While these razors have an un-intimidating look to them (how can anything that comes in pastel shades possibly harm you?), they are razors, and they come with a plastic cover for safety purposes.

The Feel: Light and mostly easy to wield

The Tinkle Eyebrow razor is incredibly light and thinner than a pen, making it easy to wield. I don’t have much of a problem when working on my right eyebrow, but my left eyebrow is another story—because I’m not left-handed, the process is a bit shaky, and I have a harder time grooming my left brow with my right hand.

The Results: Shockingly good

As I said, the thought of using a razor to groom my eyebrows was a little bit terrifying to me. I read the instructions three times before attempting it and even watched a few instructional YouTube videos. I somehow avoided cutting myself—and in the times I’ve used it since, have still not cut myself—and my eyebrows looked a lot better, no tweezers required.

The process of using the Tinkle Eyebrow Razor wasn’t perfect, though. I found it hard to seamlessly get rid of the stray hairs under my brow and ended up taking out my razor to pluck a few. Another issue with shaving your eyebrows: New hairs grow in the same way any shaved hair grows in, meaning it’s a bit stubbly, which is not ideal.

I also don’t love that I have to use shaving cream. I don’t keep shaving cream in the house—I’m all about lathering up soap in place of shaving cream—but I didn’t feel confident enough in my soap-lathering abilities to attempt using an eyebrow razor sans shaving cream. Maybe as I get more comfortable using it I will be, but as of now, I’m still applying shaving cream to my eyebrows, which isn’t my favorite thing.

The Value: Very affordable

At $5 for three razors, there’s no question that the Tinkle Eyebrow Razor is a very inexpensive tool. The most inexpensive pair of tweezers I can find on Amazon is over $5, and waxing or microneedling is a much more expensive way to maintain brows. Believe it or not, there are more inexpensive eyebrow razors available—I found a three-pack for $2—but I don’t think $5 is too high a price to pay for easy brown maintenance.
