Big, bold lashes are a key element to glam makeup looks, but, unfortunately, not everyone is born with long, wispy lashes. Though mascara is helpful, it can only elevate your look so much. A secret among beauty lovers and pro makeup artists alike, magnetic lashes are the perfect way to fake fuller lashes—namely because they come without the commitment of extensions, out-of-pocket cost of lifts and tints, or the stickiness of glue-on lashes.
But, how do they work? Thanks to tiny magnets embedded in each strip, magnetic eyelashes adhere to your lids (with the help of a magnetic eyeliner), leaving them looking fuller, longer, and more dramatic. If used properly, magnetic lashes won’t cause damage to your natural lashes at all.
There are plenty of options available, so to take the guesswork out of selecting the right set for you, we handpicked 14 of the most popular lashes and asked our testers to try them out and be brutally honest. After applying the lashes under the supervision of a professional makeup artist, testers judged each set based on ease of use, magnet attraction, comfort, overall look, and ease of removal. The highest-rated products made the list.

Beginner-friendly
Unassuming yet sturdy magnets
Liner is a little tricky to get off
In order for a set of lashes to qualify for the Best Overall attribute, they needed to blow away testers with an easy application, cute style, and impressive hold. This magnetic lash kit from KISS ticks off all the boxes and then some. Thesmooth magnetic eyeliner is a dream to apply—it’s thick enough to have some hold, yet runny enough to manipulate. Best of all, it dries down in under two minutes. Once set, applying the lashes is a cinch; probably due to the fact that each lash strip has five super-strong magnets. It’s these magnets that make the lashes a great option for beginnerssince they make application a bit more precise (not to mention quicker). The flexible lash strip also helped the lash conform to our eyelid shape without weighing them down. As for lash strength, they’re as tough as they come while feeling very light; we even forgot we were wearing them. Removing the lashes is a breeze, but just be aware that removing the liner is the toughest part, but comes off with some micellar water and a little elbow grease.
Who It’s For
If you’re looking for an all-around crowd-pleasing lash that is easy to apply, looks cute, and stays put, this is it.

Low effort
Soft glam
Lightweight
Might require 2 coats of liner
Sure, this kit from Velour Lashes comes with a higher price tag, but that’s because you’re paying for ease and quality. As the name suggests, these magnetic lashes require little to no trimming and shaping—they’re designed to just clip right in. They’re really high quality, too:The lashes are hypoallergenic and cruelty-free. We found that the eyeliner went on seamlessly, that the applicator was of the utmost quality, and the formula dried quickly. Once the lashes latch onto the magnetic liner, you can expect them to feel sturdy, but not too tight so you can’t adjust them.We also liked how the magnetic lashes won’t go anywhere on their own but can still be pulled off and adjusted as needed. The Velour lashes hold their shape and don’t droop down, just be sure you apply enough liner (a thick layer or two is ideal) so they stay on all day.
Who It’s For
These are good for those who want to spend a bit more on magnetic lashes and also want a pick that will stay on all day.

Subtle
Magnetic eyeliner is sold separately
A set of big, bold lashes isn’t for everyone—and MoxieLash gets that. If you’re looking to add subtle volume and length to sparse lashes without going over the top, these lashes (aptly named Classy Lash) are perfect for you. We found thatthey hit the perfect balance between adding a bit of glamor and still being subtle. Each strip comes equipped with 10 magnets for a flexible yet strong hold but is thin enough to be ideal for small to medium eyes. They’re also made of silk, so they feel lightweight and comfortable on eyelids. Plus,if you take good care of them, you’re able to use them every day for a month or more. The only downside is that this set doesn’t come with magnetic eyeliner, so you’ll have to purchase it separately in order for the lashes to adhere to your eyes.

Weightless magnets
Dramatic design ideal for special occasions
Easy to remove
Magnetic eyeliner sold separately
Magnetic lashes bring the drama, especially if they have a puffed-up, fanned-out design like these from Glamnetic. The magnets feel so secure that we never worried about them falling off at all; that once they’re on, they’re on for good.Though the magnets themselves are pretty lightweight, the dense lashes do feel substantial on the eye, but not to the point where they’re uncomfortable. Despite being on the thicker and more dramatic side, they hold their shape well. They do feel comfortable for extended periods of time, but you may want to apply a thick coat of the liner to ensure the lashes don’t detach (which we found could take a little bit of time). Best of all, they’re easy to remove and don’t catch on natural lashes. These lashes don’t come with a magnetic liner of their own, you’ll have to purchase one separately to get these lashes to stick.
Who It’s For
Those who prefer a more dramatic lash look should try these, although it can take a little time to get the right amount of eyeliner on.

Secure magnets
Daintier than other options
Realistic-looking
Accompanying liner can dry out
Those with smaller eyes know the struggle of trimming (and wasting) bits and pieces of lash strips to find the right fit. Thankfully, with the Magnetic Gel Liner and Lash Set from Ardell, you don’t need to whip out your scissors. The lash strips are significantly smaller than other options on this list, making them ideal for those with smaller eyes.We noticed that these are definitely smaller than other lashes and as such they don’t feel heavy or awkward. As for removal, they come off seamlessly. Just be sure to close the cap on the liner; we found that the liner can dry out if it’s left open for too long, therefore making it unusable.
Who It’s For
Those who have smaller eyes will find that these smaller lashes offer a perfect fit.

Best for Larger Eyes
MoxieLash Reusable Magnetic Eyelashes
Amazon
Tapered ends
Statement style
Can be reused for up to 30 wears
Requires effort to readjust once set
If you have larger eyes, consider yourself blessed—you’re spared from the annoyance of cutting and shaping faux lashes. These lashes from MoxieLash are on the larger side, so if you have long eyes, these are a great option to consider. Larger strips have the potential to be more irritating since they cover more area, but that’s not the case with these lashes. We liked how comfortable they felt once they adhered to the magnetic liner; we couldn’t feel the magnets at all, even when we blinked or moved our eyes around. Though they have a cat-eye shape, they don’t look too fake and provide a touch of glam perfect for a party or special event. Just keep in mind that once they attach to the liner, they’re super strong. If you need to readjust, you may have to use a little extra effort.
Who It’s For
Great for anyone who has larger eyes, these lashes make an impact but still feel undetectable and look natural.

Where We Stand
Our best overall pick is the KISS Magnetic Eyeliner and Lash Kit because it’s beginner-friendly and comes with a fan-favorite magnetic eyeliner. If you don’t mind spending a little extra, testers loved the Velour Lashes No Trim No Measure Magnetic Lash Kit due to the pretty shape and comfort of the lashes.
How We Tested
buuk.top editors did extensive research on popular magnetic eyelashes, taking expert recommendations and consumer reviews into account before choosing 14 to test out first-hand. Each tester considered each set’s ease of use, magnet attraction, comfort, overall look, and ease of removal before deciding on a rating from one to five. Those with the highest scores made the list. All tests were performed in The Lab, our Manhattan product testing facility.
What to Look For in Magnetic Lashes
Eye Size and Shape: The size and shape of your eyes are important details to keep in mind when shopping for magnetic lashes. If you have big eyes, the Moxie Lash Magnetic Eyelashes might fit you best. Alternatively, if you have smaller eyes, the Ardell Magnetic Gel Liner and Lash Set wowed us an option for those with tinier eyes. Those with hooded eyelids, for example, should look for a lash strip that has longer lashes in the middle (like the Velour Lashes No Trim No Measure Magnetic Lash Kit), which can help open up your eyes.Weight: If you’re a beginner (or hate the feeling of weighed-down lashes), opt for a lash strip that has lighter, smaller lashes. Daintier lashes, like the Moxie Lash Classy Lash, won’t feel as foreign and can actually help you get used to the feeling of faux lashes.Eyeliner:
Magnetic lashes adhere to your eye through the help of tiny magnets embedded in specially designed eyeliner formulas. Most magnetic lashes come with a specific liner, but replacement lashes (without liner) are also available. If you don’t have any magnetic eyeliner at home, be sure to buy a pair that comes with liner (like the Lanvier Magnetic Eyelashes and Eyeliner Kit), otherwise, the lashes won’t be able to stick.
The idea of applying magnets to your eyes might sound daunting, but according to Hilal-Campo, application is key to keeping your eyes safe and healthy. “When using magnetic lashes, it’s critical to apply the liner only to the upper lash line—never the waterline,” she explains. “To avoid bacterial infection, I also recommend using a clean brush every time you apply the liner.”
First, trim lashes if the strip is too wide for your eye shape. Be sure to cut right against the magnet so that the magnetic cling is still able to take effect. Next, apply a magnetic eyeliner. Most kits come with an accompanying eyeliner, but they’re sold separately if the kit you have doesn’t come with one. Tip: Shake the bottle before use and carefully line your upper lash line with the liner, being careful not to get it in your eyes. Wait for the formula to dry before applying the magnetic lashes.
Since magnetic lashes are locked in via a magnet (instead of just glue), removal is relatively fuss-free. “The lashes should pop right off and you shouldn’t have to tug at them,” Hilal-Campo says. “If you need a little extra help, use a cotton pad drenched in an eye-friendly oil, like poppy seed oil to break down the eyeliner.” Try not to pull on your lashes too hard—doing so might pull out your natural lashes, which she says are your eyes’ first line of defense against dirt and debris.
After wearing magnetic lashes, Hilal-Campo recommends using castor oil serum (like the Twenty/Twenty Beauty Get Growing Lash & Brow Serum) to promote stronger, longer lashes, while comforting dry eyes. “Ophthalmologists have used castor oil for decades to prevent and treat symptoms of dry eye,” she adds.
Magnetic lashes can be used a few times before they should be tossed out. Keep them looking their best by removing them carefully and then running a makeup remover soaked cotton swab along the lash strip to remove any liner residue.
