Half Magic
Have you watched the trailer for Priscilla yet? I have, about a thousand times for about a million different reasons. You can blame my investment on a deep love for anything and everything Sofia Coppola. You can blame Jacob Elordi’s drawl. And you can definitely blame the heavily-featured winged eyeliner and plush lashes.
Based on Priscilla Beaulieu Presley’s 1985 memoir Elvis and Me, the fast-approaching biopic promises to take both aesthetic and literal cues from the icon’s life. With Coppola’s magic touch (and color palette) involved, it’s no surprise Presley’s forever-famous looks are gaining extra traction right now. Come the November 3 release, we’re all dressing up in beehives and dark eye makeup like it’s the Eras Tour, right?
Thanks to an ultra-special partnership between production company A24 and beauty brand Half Magic (founded by Donni Davy, Euphoria’s brilliant head makeup artist), this might not be too tall a task (minus the beehive part, but we can tackle that too). Just released, The Priscilla Set ($49) features three products: the Magic Flik liquid eyeliner pen, Eyelectric lengthening mascara, and Wing Magician silicone eyeliner guide, to make sure your wing situation is under control and worthy of The Queen.
Here’s everything you need to know about the new (and dare I say perfect?) release.
A24
The Inspiration
According to the brand, A24 and Half Magic curated this set because—while Presleys signature look is iconic—”it’s not that easy for all of us to create those dramatic wings.”
Word on the street is that, upon seeing the movie for the first time, the icon was moved to tears by how closely it captured her experience. "Its very difficult to sit and watch a film about you and about your life and about your love," she reportedly said during the Venice Film Festival. "Sofia did an amazing job. She did her homework.”
Knowing what Presley said, one moment from the trailer sticks out to me that I’d be remiss not to mention here: a peek at where her signature makeup look came from.
“Black hair,” Elordi-as-Elvis directs his young bride, portrayed by the lovely Cailee Spaeny. “And more eye makeup.”
In a quick set of shots, the movies Priscilla peels falsies from their backing and touches up a heavily lined eye. “I don’t know if I like it,” she says, once the deed is done. But her beau doesn’t care.
While I hate to think that young Priscilla was forced into a style she didn’t jive with, I have to reckon with the fact that I do love the look. Luckily—and I’m sure Presley would appreciate this—it’s taken on a life far bigger than the man who originally ordered it. Nowadays, the look is applied in her honor. And not for anyone else.
The Products
Completely vegan, cruelty-free, eye-safety tested, and packaged in the prettiest box, this selection of Half Magic favorites was specially chosen to capture Priscilla’s time-transcending eye look. Magic Flik eyeliner, which buuk.top named one of 2022’s Best Products Under $25, features a unique and thoughtfully designed paddle tip that you can use to create precise lines and super sharp wings. According to Half Magic, the waterproof formula won’t budge for 12 hours—even if you cry through a certain upcoming blockbuster. And if your hand isn’t super steady (that’s okay!), you can use the included silicone Wing Magician tool to guide you.
Eyelectric, meanwhile, is a brand-new, 12-hour lengthening mascara that utilizes tubing technology alongside a precise tapered brush to coat each and every lash.

How to Use It
As if this whole thing could get any better, Donni Davy gave buuk.top a detailed guide to creating Priscilla’s signature look, that elusive wing included. You can read it here.
P.S.—While the set is close to perfection, no one’s going to blame you for complimenting it with a set of falsies. This is Priscilla, after all.
